#BlackLivesMatter - Atlanta exists to eradicate white supremacy and build local power to end violence and oppression inflicted on Black communities by the state, vigilantes, and corporations while ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our communities.

We do this through 6 guiding principles;

Support - We aim to provide support to our communities and local like-minded organizations

Respect - We are committed to acknowledging, respecting, and celebrating difference(s) and commonalities.

Education - BLMATL believes education is a crucial component for change. Allowing space for education and growth for the community is necessary.

Abolishment - We hope to build towards a society that is equipped to protect their safety and wellbeing without the need for prisons or police

Community - We serve and honor our communities. Collective Liberation will be a product of our communal actions and involvement.

Unapologetically black - We are unapologetically Black in our positioning. To love and desire freedom and justice for ourselves is a necessary prerequisite for wanting the same for others.

Currently, we are working hard on 2 initiatives that funding is necessary for:

1) The Comunity Based Rapid Response Program in Atlanta neighborhoods.

In order to make police obsolete, we need to build community-based alternatives. Right now there are not people in communities that are equipped to deal with crises of any level forcing folks to call the police which can lead to deadly interactions, especially in Black neighborhoods.

Visions/Goals: We envision a world without police. Instead of calling APD, folks will be able to call a trained community rapid response coordinator to diffuse situations or administer aid for a variety of situations. We see a way to arm people who already live on the block, with the knowledge that can and will save lives. Police only serve to escalate situations and perpetuate violence in disenfranchised neighborhoods; they do not stop crime, they do not protect, and nor do they serve. Our goal is to arm Black people with the knowledge and power we need to build community and our autonomy outside of the system. This program will include education on De-escalation, defunding the police, Mental Health Training, medic training, and other crisis intervention training.

2) End the war on Black people, in our city. We aim to do this through emergency warming stations, reliable mutual aid, political education and movement building.

We commit to full transparency on our website on how funds are spent to love on our communities.
