Miracles for Madi

Madi is my beautiful daughter. She was born with a very rare condition called PFFD(proximal focal femoral deficiency). Because of this condition, Madi’s right leg was only half of the length of her left leg when she was born. Her hip was not formed correctly and she was missing three major ligaments in her knee. When she was born treatments pointed towards amputation or extension prosthetics. We were determined to find other options for her and were blessed to have found Dr. Dror Paley, a renowned orthopedic surgeon specializing in limb discrepancies. Madi has had 8 surgeries starting when she was 3. She has had to have 4 hip surgeries to correct her hip abnormalities, 1 surgery to create new ligaments for her knee, and 1 bone lengthening( consisting of 4 surgeries) to grow new bone to decrease her discrepancy. We are now preparing for her second lengthening in 7 weeks. In order to succeed in this lengthening, our family will have to be separated for 4 months while Lori(mom) stays in Florida with Madi, leaving Mike(dad) and Julia(sister) at home in Iowa. During this time Madi will have her femur broken and an external fixator applied to her leg. This will pull the broken bones apart to allow new bone to form in between. She will have twice daily rigorous and painful physical therapy to get her muscles and ligaments to stretch with her growing bone and biweekly X-rays and doctors appointments to make sure every thing is going well. These surgeries are physically, emotionally and financially draining to us all. This is why we are asking for your help. Donations towards Madi’s fund will aid us in being able to provide medical care, travel and lodging for our family while Madi endures this much needed treatment. It is not easy for us to reach out for help but after so many surgeries, including one just last summer, we could really use your help. We will do anything we can to get to Madi’s goal of having both feet on the ground. We also ask for prayers for Madi during this time. She is one strong little girl who has been through so much and I believe part of that is because of all the prayers and love that have been sent her way.
