Our mom Judit suffers from a bone loss condition that causes her tooth loss and chronic pain. She has selflessly devoted her life to the service of others -- caring for her aging parents who have Alzheimer's, volunteering to sit vigil with hospice patients, taking time out of her day with little notice to help basically anyone who needs it -- and we want to help her in her time of need.

For those of you who do not know our mother, Judit Toke Ksiazak is a bright light in dark times, an inspiration of positivity in the face of adversity, and a pillar of strength for those who need it. She has sacrificed her career, energy, money, years of her time, and her own health and well-being to provide care and comfort for those in need, whether she knew them or not. Now she needs our help.
She lives a life of stewardship and support for loved ones and strangers alike. Our mother has devoted the last eight-plus years of her life to providing 24-hour care for her parents while they struggled with the devastating effects of Alzheimer's Disease.
If you have ever known or loved someone who has lived with Alzheimer's Disease, you know how it can change a patient and their family forever. Our mother moved back into her childhood home nearly a decade ago to provide around-the-clock care and supervision for her parents. She watched their personalities change, their memories vanish, and their relationships dissolve with each passing day. After our grandfather's stroke in 2008, he begged her in a rare moment of lucidity to let him live out his days at home and not in a nursing home. Without hesitation, she took on the role of primary caregiver. She could no longer hold a regular full-time job. Other family members are supportive, but the burden has fallen disproportionately upon our mother. Her life was forever changed.
When she wasn't driving to and from doctors' appointments, administering medications, or supervising her parents to be certain that they were healthy and safe, she could be found volunteering at the Joliet Hospice, sitting vigil with strangers in their final days.
When one of Magda's childhood friends found herself in a desperate situation, Mom babysat her infant daughter and convinced her to enter a treatment program.
When our father suffered a sudden life-threatening illness and spent three weeks in the Intensive Care Unit, our mother was there every day despite the fact that they had been divorced for nearly ten years.

Our family has a long list of medical bills and student loans; we have our own debts and have little money of our own to contribute. Ilona moved to Southern Oregon last year and found it very difficult to be so far away. She felt helpless 2,000 miles away as if she couldn’t really “be there” for her mother. This is our attempt to raise awareness and raise some money to help a woman who has helped so many.
A bone-loss condition has caused our mother to lose a considerable number of teeth over the past few years. We founded this fundraiser with the intent to make it possible for her to get the dental surgery that she so badly needs. It would not only be for cosmetic purposes; it would alleviate the chronic pain and difficulty eating with which she suffers every day. She has spent her life easing others' pain, yet she feels unable to ease her own. If we could raise $12,000 to help pay for the removal of her remaining teeth and dental implants to replace them she could enjoy food again, feel more confident in her appearance, and live a life without pain. We've researched less-costly options so that your donations go further and get her closer to a new lease on life.
She has embraced a life of service to others and we would like her kindness to be repaid with love and support when she needs it most.
