Hurricane Michael Victims of HNRG

Hurricane Michael significantly affected three Hancock Natural Resource Group (HNRG) employee's families. However, the extent of the damage was not realized until two days after the storm had already passed. On Friday morning, word was received that two employees' families were in desperate need of supplies and help. The HFM and HFS team gathered eight people on a conference call to determine how we could assist team members. We needed supplies such as generators, gasoline, baby food, pet food, cleaning supplies, tarps, nails, power cords, water, Gatorade and other everyday necessities. The team members on the call were prepared to deliver their own generators, equipment, supplies and cash needed to support the relief effort, however, HNRG was pleased to purchase these supplies. HFM will utilize these resources for team members who are impacted by natural disasters in the future.
The call came in at 12 noon on a Friday. By 12:30 pm, the team had secured three generators, power cords, tarps and roofing nails. By 2 pm, the team had secured most of the items required to bring some relief to the families in need. By 4 pm, two fully loaded pickup trucks left Birmingham, Alabama with the much-needed supplies. By 8 pm, the supplies were delivered to families in Bainbridge, Georgia. The two employees delivered the supplies, helped set up the generators and assessed the damage to the home and property. The damage was significant.
