The voice of 911 needs help!

Whenever you pick up the phone to report an emergency you're greeted by someone on the other end of the phone, a 911 dispatcher. The dispatchers are the very front line of emergency response. Often times they have to deal with an extremely chaotic situation and try to figure out where to send the help to.
These men and women are some of the hardest working on the force! Not only are they trying to look after first responders but the public as well. This thankless job requires these men and woman to work crumy hours and they often have to miss out on holidays, birthdays, anniversaries and other important dates because 911 never closes. A colleague of mine, Amber Skall, a 911 dispatcher with Ventura Police department has been diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer at the VERY young age of 31.
For me, I had no idea what stage 4 cancer meant. It means the cancer started in one place and spread to other organs. In Amber's case it meant her cancer started in her colon then spread to her liver and one of ovaries which had to be removed. Her bout with cancer has taken a toll on her. After spending nearly three weeks in the hospital she had to go out on medical leave due to this illness. Amber is one of the kindest souls you will ever meet, I guess that figures since she works in Public Service.
Her long road ahead is going to be tough. She is currently in treatment to help shrink the leisons on her liver. This treatment is taking a toll on her body. Chemotherapy is a rough road. I know what you're thinking, why should I donate my hard earned cash to someone I dont know? That's a good question and I have one answer. She would do the same for you. If the roles were reversed, she would give the shirt off her back to make you more comfortable.
