Asia Today with Jeffrey Bingham Mead is the successor broadcast of an earlier one, Marvels of China: Pathways to the Pacific Rim. We're just completing our fourth successful year on-the-air from the studios of Radio 1490 WGCH in Greenwich, Connecticut USA and WGCH.com anywhere via the Internet. The new show represent a broadening of our horizons by focusing on Asian culture, business, politics, the arts and literature, and so much more. Our audience is global as are our guests.
What will the funds be used for?
It takes funding to broadcast a radio show. We always welcome advertisers, sponsors and underwriters. Those funds go to underwrite the costs associated with required leased airtime, travel, research and more. I run on a very tight budget -and I should mention that radio show hosts like me are not employees of the radio stations we broadcast from. We function as independent contractors -so any support for our shows comes from people, organizations and businesses like you.
How soon do I need the funds?
Radio broadcasting is a continuous process. The funds are needed right away.

When I returned from my first trip to China in September, 2015 never did I expect that this would result in a broadcasting career. I was a guest in China for its 70th year commemorations of the end of World War II. My late-father was one of the last of the postwar "China Marines," and I was invited to represent him and other U.S. China Marines. I was quite humbled to be told that they -like other Americans of the 'Greatest Generation' are revered as national heroes.
This radio show is not just a matter of sitting in front of a microphone. This how is about educating the public about the complexities of Asia -its history, cultures, things that many in the West I believe do not understand. Its about nurturing and supporting positive, collaborative relationships in a rapidly globalized world.
I see all this as an extension of my profession as an educator. I have been blessed to be supported by extraordinary people, businesses and organizations. All the more reason I want to continue this journey -and bring you, my audience, along.
