We are calling for the loving support of our friends, family, church and local community for my wonderful nephew Ashton Bates who was recently diagnosed with Leukemia cancer. Ashton is the son of Eddie and Jenny Bates. Please pray for Ashton's full recovery. God still answers prayers and we ask God to heal Ashton.
Ashton was rushed to Brenner's Children Hospital in Winston-Salem a couple weeks ago after getting a call from his doctor that he has leukemia. Since then, Ashton has received many tests and surgeries to better understand what type of leukemia he has. We now know that he has AML type of leukemia. A plan was put into place for his treatment, and he has been taking chemo the past 10 days. The doctors recently updated us that Ashton's bone marrow is not producing healthy cells, so after 4-5 more weeks at Brenner's, he will be transferred to Duke in Durham, where he will receive radiation treatment and then a Bone Marrow Transplant. Ashton has a long road to recovery ahead of him.
The costs of Ashton's hospital stay, treatments, time out of work by his parents, bills and overall care will be a burden on the family, so we are asking for your help during this difficult time. We are grateful and humbled by the overwhelming support of so many already in the community and we want to say thank you.
Ashton is a 3rd grade Northern Nighthawk at Northern Guilford Elementary. He plays football for the Northern Guilford Nighthawks where he has a true passion for the sport. Ashton also plays for the SRA baseball league in Summerfield, NC since he was about 4 years old and Ashton's dad coaches his baseball team.
