Ashley was involved in a freak accident in her Dad’s backyard on May 31st 2017. Her fingers were caught in a pulley system breaking all her fingers and severing 2 of her finger tips on her left hand . She is already nursing a broken index finger on her right hand from playing softball just 2 weeks ago. One of the finger tips was found but it is too damaged to reattach. She will be having the first surgery in the morning to do skin grafts to close the wounds. Reconstruction surgery and physical therapy are to follow in upcoming weeks.
Ashley does have major medical insurance however she won't be able to work for 6-8 weeks while she goes through the long and painful healing process. She has been working hard to pay back previous medical bills with a remaining balance of over $4,500 . A couple years ago she underwent 2 emergency eye surgeries and hip surgery and she has been working hard and paying it off on her own since she was 18, but she has a long way to go still. Funds donated will replace her lost income and hopefully pay off her lingering medical debt so she can get a fresh start. Its my hope she can be free from medical debt for the 1st time in her adult life . She will continue working hard to pay her medical debt when she can go back to work but right now she needs help.
This accident seems particularly devasting as she was just about to graduate from the nail technician program at the MATC at the end of June. She loves making hands and nails beautiful, especially her own. She is extremely upset and concerned about what her fingers are going to look like and feel like.
As traumatic as this has been she has kept her sense of humor and we have been cracking jokes about fingers and hands all day. She amazes me at how strong and positive she is. She has really appreciated the outpouring of love and support from everyone. She says its the only thing that helps her to not think about the incident.
Anyone who knows Ashley knows how ambitous and hard working she is. She works as a part time paramedic and also as a server at the Strap Tank Brewery while she attends school in the evening. So now the paramedic gets to be the patient!
If you can, please help to relieve the financial burden she is experiencing and give her the stress relief she deserves so she can focus on healing.
