Ashley’s Mayo Clinic Trip

This is my niece, Ashley Smith.  As many of you know, she has had hemiplegic migraines (which mimic a stroke). During one of these migraines, she began to lose her balance, had restricted blood flow to her hands and feet, which led them to be blue in color, and moderate confusion.  At the emergency room, they did a ct scan and noted a cyst, tumor, or possible stroke on the left side of her brain. After a few terrifying days days of waiting for an answer, a MRI showed a moderate size cyst. 

She has been blessed enough to get a chance to be observed and treated by some of the best doctors at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.  She will be assessed over 5-7 business day appointments, beginning July 22.  They will start with a basic interview/appointment then the next day start running tests. In addition the tests , she has been informed they will probably need to biopsy the cyst. 

Due to the network restrictions of her insurance, most of the expense from this trip, including not only medical cost, but food and lodging for her and her two daughters, will be out of her pocket. I am praying that as a dedicated nurse, mom, wife, daughter, sister, niece and friend, those whom she has helped in the past, can help her now, as it is greatly needed.
