ASHLEY’S BREAST CANCER BATTLE!

Donation protected
I’m establishing this “Go Fund Me” page on behalf of my oldest daughter, Ashley Byron. While I could go on forever with specifics of Ashley’s diagnosis, condition & treatments, I will do my best to keep this message brief.

Ashley is a 31 year old, full-time Registered Nurse in the Operating Room of a local hospital. She loves her job and has worked as a nurse for the last 7 years in several fields. Ashley and her husband have 2 beautiful and very active children; Grayson (6 years) and Kinzlie (3 years).

In May (2017), Ashley was hit with the devastating news that she has “Stage 3” Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, which encompasses most of her left breast and at least 1 lymph node. Her breast cancer is ER/PgR/Her-2 positive (triple positive) and is very aggressive and fast growing. While we expect Ashley’s final prognosis to be promising, her 1 year treatment plan is horribly difficult and the most aggressive available.

Ashley is currently 3/4 of the way through her 1st round of chemotherapy. Her next step is surgery with a lengthy recovery, which means a bilateral (double) mastectomy with reconstruction (due to an inherited cancer gene). Radiation will follow her surgery, and a 2nd round of chemotherapy will finish her treatment.

Ashley's diagnosis has taken a toll on her family. Her income is the main steady source of income for the family and because her husband works in Excavation, due to environmental reasons it can become intermittent. Ashley has terrible side effects from her chemotherapy so she is "not able" to work for 1 & 1/2 weeks after each treatment (treatments are 3 weeks apart).

Ashley’s cancer has affected their family life not only financially, but emotionally and physically. They not only have to deal with their feelings about Ashley’s breast cancer at an early age, but how it will affect their children now and in the future. Ashley has an inherited cancer gene, so this puts her at a higher risk for an additional breast cancer and other types of cancer. Because her cancer gene is inherited, Ashley’s 2 children are also at risk of having the cancer gene.

The purpose of our campaign is to help raise money to aid Ashley and her family with their annual insurance deductibles ($3,000 per year; 2017 & 2018), accumulating & on-going medical expenses, and some living expenses.

Please give what you can, and if you are unable to donate at this time, please forward this message to others who may be willing or able to help. We will share updates on Ashley’s progress, as we can.

Our family truly appreciates you taking the time to read this message, and we are extremely grateful for any donations you provide!
