FOR THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW ME, START HERE:   (for those that know me already, scroll down to the next bold paragraph)

Ironman consists of a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, 26.2 mile run.  You have 17 hours to finish, and only .01% of the population have ever attempt such an event. Training entails approx 9 months of dedication, early mornings, 10-18 hours of training per week, blood, sweat and tears, amongst multiple sacrifices. In her first attempt at Ironman in 2008 at the age of 23 Ashley was involved in an unfortunate cycling accident 1 week prior to the race breaking her right elbow resulting in immediate surgery.

As a true test of her resiliency, she had one of the fastest rehabs after having a plate and 5 screws inserted and was able to compete at Ironman Arizona only 7 months later. She placed 5th in her age-group and the dream to race in the Ironman World Championships in Kona was born!!!

To race in Kona you have to win your age group or get one of the very limited slots rolled down to you based on your finish place per age group. As a side note only 3% of age-group triathletes that complete an Ironman will qualify for the World Championships. The Ironman World Championships is like the Super Bowl for triathetes to give you any indication of how grand and special this event is.

Ashley continued to chase her dream while attending grad school doing 12 hour days of class and clinic. Student loans, limited income, working 2 jobs, her car dying, and moving 4 times did not deter her from keeping her eye on the goal. Fast forward to 8 additional Ironman attempts, placing top 5 twice more--- but it was STILL not enough to qualify. Just when it seemed like Kona was out of her reach for good as reality kicked in, debt was piling up, strain and stress were taking their toll, she was willing to give it one last shot at Ironman Canada July 30th 2017...

After 9 tries Ashley finally won her age group at Ironman Canada placing 3rd overall amateur, 1st age group in 10hrs 38 minutes (57min swim, 5:35 bike, 3:58 run) setting a personal best in the process!!!!

Crying like a baby after the finish.

THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE DREAM COME TRUE!!!

9 years.... 9 YEARS of chasing this dream,  9 YEARS  of putting in the hard work, and it finally came true!!!

Unfortunately the only thing stopping me from getting to Kona is finances at this time...

Ironman World Championships are held in Kona, HI Oct 14, 2017. Being already later in the year 94% of the hotels and home stays are booked, leaving only the very limited and/or expensive options remaining.

This gofundme page is designed to help Ashley achieve her dream and alleviate the financial strain. Funds will go toward accommodations (approx $900), transportation (approx $350), flights (approx $700), food (approx $300), bike transport ($400) and race entry (which cost $1000 alone).

In addition to Ironman Kona- earlier this year she also qualified for 70.3 World Championships and XTERRA World Championships--- an even more rare feat!!!!   70.3 WC is half the Ironman distance held on Sept 11, 2017 in Chattanooga, TN. XTERRA WC consists of a 1 mile swim, 20 mile mountain bike, 10.5k trail run held Oct 29, 2017 in Maui, HI.  Additional funds will go towards these events ($1000 each for 70.3 Worlds and XTERRA)

Ashley has been an active member of the triathlon community for over 10 years donating her time volunteering at races and events, working 6 years at a triathlon shop for her 2nd job, and putting on clinics for new triathletes sharing her knowledge and passion for the sport.
