We heart Ashley

As many of you know, on March 15, 2016 our dear friend Ashley was diagnosed with congestive heart failure (CHF) and mitral valve prolapse regurgitation. She was also later diagnosed with a nodule on her thyroid as well as liver issues due to the CHF. Due to the seriousness of her condition, on March 25th she was transferred from the ICU at Syracuse's Upstate Hospital to the Cardiac ICU at Columbia Hospital in New York City.  Columbia Hospital is considered one of the best heart failure/transplant clinics in the world.

Ashley has since been able to return home but has had multiple hospital/ER visits in the past three months as well as NUMEROUS doctor's visits here in Syracuse and at Columbia in NYC. Since being discharged,  despite her rigid compliance with all the doctor's orders and dietary/sodium/fluid restrictions and the pharmaceutical therapies, Ashley's  heart is still only functioning at 10% and her mitral valve prolapse regurgitation remains severe. Despite all of her health issues and symptoms, Ashley has still managed to remain positive and active and she was able to convince her doctors to allow her to return to work part time from home. Although she is earning some income, she still has has to take a lot of time off to deal with her health and she still has to pay her living expenses, student loans, expenses from traveling to and from NYC regularly and large medical bills that have already come in and the many that will come in the future.

FIRST AND FOREMOST--Ashley and her family want to thank everyone from the bottom of their hearts for all the love, prayers, generosity, every day help and financial assistance already provided for Ashley. In her words, "No one will ever know how much all of these people and their kindness mean to me and how they are the ones helping me cope with all of this and literally helping to keep me alive." She appreciates you all more than anything. A group of 74 people have already raised $9,000.00 for Ashley and it has helped her tremendously the past 4 months. Financially, she would not be able to live without the money so generously and lovingly donated.

The first part of Ashley's surgerical journey beings in order to attempt to improve her heart. Ashley must now undergo surgery for a biventricular pacemaker and defibrillator on July 12, 2016. Depending on the outcome of the procedure, Ashley may need open heart surgery for a valve replacement and/or a heart transplant. We are continuing to seek donations to assist Ashley and her family with the large amount of expenses that they have and will continue to incur throughout her journey. Any amount that you are able to donate will certainly help Ashley and her family throughout this process.   Thank you for any support and prayers that you can offer!

Help spread the word and share this site with anyone and everyone you know.

--Thank you--
