Ashley was recently diagnosed with Pseudotumor Cerebri, which occurs when the pressure inside your skull (intracranial pressure) increases for no obvious reason.
Symptoms mimic those of a brain tumor, but no tumor is present. The increased pressure in her head has caused her to have severe headaches, dizziness, neck, and back pain.
Last week Ashley had to go to the ER two times for debilitating and unbearable pain. In the ER they performed a lumbar puncture to drain extra cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) and help decrease the pressure in her brain. Two days later, Ashley developed severe, debilitating pain in her head and was admitted to the hospital. After doing an MRI doctors found that Ashley had a leak in her spinal cord and now does not have enough CSF in her brain.
In order to stop the spinal fluid leak, they performed a blood patch, which was not as effective as they had hoped. Two days later, Ashley got moved to the ICU for numbness on her right side. Her MRI at that time still showed that she does not have enough cerebral spinal fluid and her brain has shrunk and now has hematomas in it. In order to attempt to stop the CSF fluid leak again, Ashley had another blood patch. That blood patch did not go as planned and Ashley is currently unable to feel or move her body from her hips down.
Through all of this, Ashley has been in massive amounts of pain in her head and spine. She has had to lay completely flat and cannot get out of bed or eat. Ashley is also currently pregnant (due in August) and this has made managing Ashley’s pain very difficult, in order to make it safe for the baby. Ashley is currently still in the ICU with limited answers on how or when she will heal or even be able to even sit up.
Through this stressful time, these funds will help ease and support Ashley, her husband Isaac, and two children. Any amount helps.
