<div>The situation in Asheville, NC is devastating following Hurricane Helene — toxic mud, flooding, destruction. Schools are closed indefinitely. Highways are closed for many months. Tens of thousands still have no water or power. Basic needs are not being met such as food and access to clean water. Residents do not know when or where they can get gasoline, find a place to bathe, do laundry, get toiletries, ice, etc. The trauma is intense, especially after COVID.
