Hello,
My name is Ashanti Smith. I am a newly high school graduate. For the past year I have been trying to get accepted at Hampton University for my Bachelor’s degree in Mass communication. I received my acceptance letter in December. Due to financial complications I may not be able to complete my degree. I have successfully obtained a scholarship from Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated however the scholarship is not enough.
My dreams to become a TV Anchor came from watching Oprah Winfrey, Lala Anthony and Terrance J. Although people perceive me as shy, however I’m an excellent speaker. In fact, I became class president in order to be the voice of my fellow class mates. I also started my own video blog to advise younger people in the world on different life complications like “what to expect while you apply to college” or “what to expect during high school”.
In school I worked extremely hard to keep a 3.0 GPA, I also worked for Johns Hopkins Hospital and Rue 21 throughout my high school years and received a certificate of appreciation from Johns Hopkins Hospital, The Department of Juvenile Human Resources and the NFTE Program.
If I can raise at least $15,000 I will be able to cover the tuition to attend the university this fall.
