As The Ashes Settle, The Fire Stirs

When I.C.E. raids her home on her 18th birthday an immigrant girl uncovers supernatural powers within.

SYNOPSIS

On her 18th birthday Iggy, an immigrant girl in foster care,  is informed by her social worker that she will be returning to I.C.E. custody. Upon returning home, Iggy discovers her siblings have been taken in a raid. She vows to find them and discovers she has a supernatural gift.

DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT

I wrote "As The Ashes Settle The Fire Stirs" because the family separation/ detention crisis in our country has been a constant subject of concern for me as an American citizen and filmmaker. I wanted to tell the story of an immigrant girl who saves herself. She is her own hero. Iggy is extremely empathetic and nurturing but incredibly brave and strong in the face of insurmountable odds and cruelty. Iggy is the heroine we need in 2021.

WHY SUPPORT THIS FILM?

During this pandemic we have seen so many immigrants continue to work and provide essential services. So many of the ESSENTIAL workers are immigrants. This story is grounded in the reality of our times and it reflects the truth of the makeup of this country. It's time we have an immigrant superhero story. Iggy is that super heroine. I'm excited to see where her story goes and what can become of this story.
