As has DMVD. Help to fix As' heart!!

This lovely little guy is As, a 9 years old furry who has been energetically spreading love for his entire life. He loves to run. A lot! Unfortunately, this might come to an end...

As has been diagnosed with Degenerative Mitral Valve Disease (DMVD). DMVD is the most common acquired cardiac disease encountered in dogs. The ACVIM (American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine) has established 4 stages for the disease. As is currently on the 3rd stage (ACVIM C). Life expectancy at this stage is limited and statistically reduced to 6-18 months.

The only long-term remedy for his condition is a surgical procedure that can help repair his mitral valve. These types of surgeries are practiced by a very limited number of veterinary clinics in all of Europe and because of it, they are very expensive.

Some may think that he is already old and the disease is just a symptom of a natural late phase in a dog's life. That is not the case!

To be able to ascertain his candidacy for the surgery, an extensive battery of tests has to be performed on all his organs. Besides the heart issue, his health is excellent. If the surgery is successful, his condition would dramatically improve and could live happily for many more years to come.

As is eligible for surgery and could be operated at the end of April at the Hopia clinic in France. The biggest obstacle right now is economic. Due to the very rare nature of these surgeries, the costs can vary from 20.000 to 30.000 euros. As, is family and has always been considered as such. All my family members agreed to commit all our savings on this chance of saving him but we need some help still.
