Hello friends, my name is Tenzia Marroquin, and on Wednesday February 12, my beloved ten year old Siamese Artemus (Arty) began to suffer from life threatening health complications. He had multiple seizures, a stroke, loud cries of pain, lost all motor skills, constant spazzing/contorting of his body, inability to walk/hold himself, involuntary defecating, become physically rigid/stiff, and was neurologically gone. Arty was rushed from San Benito, TX to an emergency animal hospital forty five minutes away in McAllen, TX (only emergency animal hospital available until San Antonio). The journey was excruciating and difficult. He has been in the intensive care unit since arrival and is continuing to be monitored to determine the source of his medical issues. Various tests, medications, blood transfusions, heart tests, and neurological studies have been conducted. He may need an MRI and surgery, and the closest facility conducting such medical procedures is in San Antonio, TX which is four hours away from where I reside. These procedures are very expensive and will cost $5,000 for the MRI alone (surgery is a separate charge), not including the ever growing medical bill here at his current facility ($2000+). I list the prices because I would like full transparency. I am not one to ask for help, but in this situation, I humbly ask for your consideration of donating. Anything helps. He had no preexisting conditions, so this has all been quite abrupt and scary. Arty has been a member of the family for ten years (eleven in March) and present for every milestone in my life. I had his mother for twelve years and have been blessed with him for the past decade. Artemus is an extremely smart, sassy, loving, playful, affectionate, loyal, and caring cat. He is so much more than a pet. Arty is my best friend and son. He has been there in my lowest of lows, when I had no one to run to, and have needed aid physically and mentally. I love and care for him with my entire being. I refuse to give up on him when times are tough and will show up for Arty in the same way he has for me for the last decade.
