Baby Joaquin needs our help

Donation protected

Dearest Family and Friends. I write to you today asking for donations for my lil nephew Joaquin A Gonzalez. He was born with a rare condition called Beckwith–Wiedemann syndrome. BWS causes children to be more prone to develop cancer from now till the age of 8. Every 3 months he has to undergo blood work and ultrasounds to make sure that he is cancer free. In addition to that it causes one to grow much faster and larger than expected including his tongue. Therefore on Dec 15 Joaquin was admitted to Medical City Hospital in Dallas and underwent a much needed surgical procedure to reduce the size of his tongue.

Although his surgery went very well Baby JAG managed to come in contact with RSV setting his healing process back. What was supposed to be only a couple of days in the hospital is now going to be much longer than expected. His airway is very swollen and he’s
struggled to breathe and relax. He had to be intubated to help him breathe. He’s been kept sedated so he won’t pull out his feeding tube or anything else. He is currently strapped down to his bed, and now has 2 nurses assigned to him.

He is only 11 months old and his first birthday is this next month in January. He won’t be home to celebrate it due to the complications of the RSV. It’s heartbreaking that he had to spend his 1st Christmas in the hospital as well. The healing process is super slow and everyday has been a struggle for not only Baby JAG but for his Parents and Grandma to see him and not be able to comfort and hold him.

The longer than planned stay in Dallas is getting quite expensive and medical costs are accumulating.
So I am asking for help for my cousin and my lil nephew Joaquin. Alexia has enough to worry about and I would like to make this one less thing for her to be concerned about. Therefore anything you can spare even if a $1 will be greatly and sincerely appreciated. I know Christmas just passed and it may be difficult and if you can’t donate that is completely ok. We also need as many prayers as possible as well. For not only Joaquin but for his Mom Alexia and his father Arturo. Alexia is a wonderful Mom and her strength is beyond measure.

In closing I urge all of you with babies younger than 2 please keep them away from anyone that has flu symptoms! We are optimistic that all will be ok but mammas and papas be safe! Don’t allow anyone that is sick or has symptoms of being sick near your baby. We don’t want anyone to go through this.

As mentioned Prayers would be greatly appreciated so that he has a speedy recovery and he can be held in our arms again. After this obstacle has been over come we plan to continue to advocate for Beckwith–Wiedemann syndrome.

A special thank you to everyone for taking the time to read this, donate and share. Love you All God Bless
