Arts Out Loud

Donation protected
My name is Robin Sanders and I am the founder and artistic director of Out Loud Artistry (OLA), a performing arts training and mentorship program founded in Memphis, Tennessee in 2009 with a mission to use the arts as a means to inspire social change.  Recently, my family and I along with OLA member, Emily Binford, relocated to Homestead, FLA. Our move came after a 10 month stay in my hometown of Little Rock, AR where I began dance & theater training & mentoring a group of young performers called YoungStars.  In a very short time with limited resources, we were able to host 2 dance concerts featuring YoungStars and Hybrid Performance Group, OLA's adult company based in Memphis, & a host of emerging artists of all from Little Rock & Memphis.   The YoungStars also had the opportunity to perform all over Little Rock & surrounding areas gaining great momentum & visibility. Quite naturally, leaving was hard, but they were committed and vowed to keep OLA's YoungStars going.

Homestead was not entirely new for us however.  This past July marked OLA's third summer of partnership with KIX, a five day a week after-school and teen program for underserved youth of West Homestead.  Through KIX, an OLA team consisting of my husband and I along with six of OLA's teaching & performing artists have been able to host our summer performing arts program, Camp SLAM!, for one week each summer here in West Homestead.

Binford and I are starting a dance theater & visual arts program for students ages 4 & up in the West Homestead community.  This program will allow many students who have limited to no access to the arts, financial means, and/or exposure to enroll and be trained, mentored, and given the opportunity to perform throughout the Miami-Dade community.

I am raising money to offset the expenses of a startup program in West Homestead as well as the cost of space rental & small team of instructor/mentors in Little Rock, and promotional material & art supplies for both cities.

What we need:
$1200 for 3 months of space rental in Homestead & Little Rock
$1700 for instructor stipends & travel (2 instructors for 3 months)
$800 for marketing & promotional material for new season & visual art supplies
$1300 for sound system & portable mirrors (for Homestead)

Through OLA, I have had the opportunity to direct Camp SLAM for six summers in Memphis as well as watch the young people I have trained and mentored through the arts now train and mentor in Memphis, Little Rock, Conway and Homestead. Many of my mentees have graduated high school and gone onto college, entered the professional world of work, attained success in the commercial industry, enrolled in law school, and a host of other endeavors. I am eager to see the work go forward in Little Rock and start the year-round program here in Homestead.  With your contribution, you would be giving so much more than money; you will be giving a young person a chance that may not have otherwise been available in their community had you not contributed.  Your gift can greatly enrich the lives of so many.
