Our friend Art, who is a burn survivor,  just received a double lung transplant!  He just moved from Redding to Los Angeles (his hometown) and needs money  to help him month to month, to cover the cost of the many medications he must take to keep his body from rejecting his transplanted lungs.

We are seeking to raise $1-5 from 1000 different people because we know one dollar is something that EVERYONE can afford to give.  If you want to give more, God bless you!

Here is Art's story and why he needed this surgery, so buckle in for this one:

He and his brother were in a house fire. Art got out and realized his brother had not so he went back in to get him. Art passed out from smoke inhalation and was burned over 40% of his body, including losing his nose and several of his fingers. He has had 16 surgeries to deal with scar tissue on his body and lung tumors.

His brother died in the fire.

BUT Art, a former gang member who has served time for murder, knows the Lord! He didn't give up on Jesus!

Several years later he was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer (coming from the things he inhaled during the house fire). About every 6 months for the past 3 years his doctors tell him he has about 4 months to live. He has often had tumors all over his lungs.

He goes to Bethel's Healing Rooms and gets prayer, then goes back to his doctors where they tell him his tumors are gone and he is in remission! With this transplant surgery he will be cancer free!

But it doesn't end there: about 18 months ago, one of his two daughters had a brain aneurysm and died in a car accident while she was driving. Art still stood strong in Jesus.

He has struggled with severe pain because of the nerve damage that he has from his 3rd degree burns. About a year ago, he started drinking to dull the pain, because he did not want to become addicted to pain medication. Through an intervention (us when we were back on the east coast and his friends who live near him) we were able to get him off the booze.

6 months ago, one of his grandchildren, named Art after him, ran into the street and were hit by a car and killed. (a child from his other daughter)

Art has been through more than most people EVER will deal with, a modern day Job from the Bible, if you will, but still has a desire to love Jesus and to follow him no matter what happens.

The cancer came back for a 3rd time and the doctors told  him to get a double lung transplant and they finally found a match for him. He had the surgery and has had several major expenses since then.

He is going to also get another transplant this month: a nose. Art lost his nose in the fire and has been struggling to keep from getting infections because of it and needs this to keep him healthy, which is VERY important for his transplanted lungs!

Can you help us help Art during this pivotal and important time?
