Help Bring the Arts to Rural Virginia

I'm raising money to help grow the fine arts community here in rural central Virginia.

Background: A local Christian nonprofit recently purchased this old, rundown building in Appomattox, Virginia, for the purpose of renovating it into a nonprofit fine art gallery and studio.

Vision: This nonprofit art gallery would serve the growing art community in rural central Virginia and the various college communities in and around Appomattox County.

Location: 1878 Church Street, across from Main Street and a couple blocks from Hwy 460 Business in downtown Appomattox, Virginia. There is a small parking lot in the rear of the building as well as some street parking across from the front entrance. About 30 minutes east of Lynchburg (Liberty University, University of Lynchburg, Randolph College, Sweet Briar College, and Central Virginia Community College), 30 minutes west of Farmville (Longwood University, and Hampden-Sydney College), roughly an hour south of Charlottesville (University of Virginia), and 90 minutes north of Danville. Appomattox itself has two colleges: New Geneva Christian Leadership Academy, and the Central Virginia Community College Appomattox satellite location.

Current condition & immediate needs: The proposed building location has already been purchased and some immediately needed renovations of the roof are already being scheduled. A generous donor has already helped get brand new electrical work for the building. Other immediate needs include interior renovations of large sections of the ceiling and floor, new climate-control air conditioning and special light fixtures, new plumbing, replacing the cracking front and side windows, and general interior wall and exterior siding repairs. Other renovation needs prior to the grand opening include a total face-lift to the front entrance (see renderings below) and interior design needs for properly displaying, caring for, and creating artwork.

Proposed exterior design renderings:

Success rate: Below is a photo of the exterior of another renovation project across the street that this Christian nonprofit accomplished several years ago... entirely through donations and NO debt! The proposed art gallery front rendering would have a similar brick look. The estimated cost for all exterior and interior renovations is $50,000. Any additional funds beyond that number will go exclusively towards the promotion and maintaining of the gallery. The success of this new art gallery and the growth of the art community in rural Virginia is entirely in YOUR hands through your generous donations!
