<div>I’m <strong>Sky Parra</strong>, a visual artist and researcher based in Brisbane. My project <strong><em>DENIED: Portraits of Wrongful Conviction</em></strong> responds to miscarriages of justice and their devastating impact through intimate oil paintings. Since 2021, I’ve travelled across Australia to meet and paint individuals who have been wrongfully convicted of serious crimes. Through collaborative storytelling and portraiture, <strong><em>DENIED</em></strong> offers powerful testimonies that challenge stereotypes and encourage critical reflection on perceptions of guilt, innocence, and human worth. Engaging the humanising power of art, <strong><em>DENIED</em></strong> gives voice and visibility to those overlooked and forgotten by our justice system.
