Hi! We’re Lucy Morley and Robbie Wigfall, student artists and designers at Texas State University. We have been given the opportunity to organizing an immersive exhibition at the School of Art and Design’s FLEX space. This exhibition will be put on October 6th-19th.
"The Customer is Always Right"
This exhibition invites artists and creators to reveal the grotesque reality behind the checkout counter and illuminate the rage, grief, humor, and quiet resistance woven into the fabric of working-class survival. By reclaiming the narratives of burnout, dehumanization, and corporate control, "The Customer is Always Right" gives voice to the thousands of student workers and abused retail associates who endure these conditions daily. This show highlights the unique point of view of student artists while fostering important dialogue around labor, identity, and survival both within and beyond the art world.
Why we need your help:
While the space is secured, we need funding for installation materials, Supplies for the surprise artwork installation that will be placed in the center, built by Robbie and me, promotional materials, and food/supplies for the opening ceremony. Every donation goes directly toward building this vision.
ALL REMAINING OR UNUSED FUNDS (if we have any) WILL BE DONATED TO THE PCRF. (Palestinian Children's Relief Fund) To support suffering children and families across seas.
This exhibition is about reclaiming the stories of service workers—especially students—who are expected to smile through exhaustion and disrespect. If you’ve ever worked behind a counter (or know someone who has), we’d love your support in bringing this to life.
Thank you for helping us give voice to this exciting opportunity.
With gratitude,
Lucy & Robbie
