Around The World Kids Choir
Around The World Kids Choir
I am so thrilled to invite you to partner with me on this idea that I hope will contribute to developing an appreciation of culture and difference in the young people of Exeter. I have been thinking for a while that while I love the extra-curricular activities my kids do (swimming, ballet etc which are currently unavailable due to lockdown,) I wish there was an option for them to do something that exposes them to different cultures and allows us to connect with likeminded families. This is where the idea for a children’s world choir was born.
The choir will meet weekly for a 45 minute session. This session will involve learning a song in a different language or from a different country and then learning about the country or culture.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and current lockdown, I know that now more than ever, this is needed. I am therefore spending the week of 11-17 January funding with the aim to launch this in the week commencing 18th January. Studies show that choral singing improves our mood, with a decrease in stress, depression and anxiety. Please help me to give this gift to our children.
I want this choir to be accessible to all and it will have a- pay what you can, if you can- pricing plan. During lockdown, I want the sessions to be free!
My ask: Please support by giving what you can to fund the choir. As it stands, it costs me £90 per week to hire an incredible choir leader that I have met called Fran Andre- https://naturalvoice.net/practitioner/fyandre. I am putting my own funds towards this but still need your help to make this last a term.
If you would like to contribute to this, there is guidance below on how you can donate:
Financial contribution: Please use the GOFUNDME account. £1,000 will allow us to deliver one session a week for 3 months. Additional funds will contribute towards additional weekly sessions.
Online Zoom Platform: if you have a ZOOM account that will allow sessions longer than 40 minutes that we can use, please let me know.
All donations will go to the sessions, I am not taking a salary.
If you have a primary school aged child and want to know when we go live, please do not hesitate to join our facebook group https://www.facebook.com/ATWKC.
Thanks so much.
