Army Vet/Cancer Patient Home Burns

Donation protected
Tuesday, January 9, 2018, my 61-year-old brother Mike was released from the veterans hospital (his fourth hospital stay since Christmas Eve) and a Disabled American Veterans volunteer drove him an hour back home to discover that his mobile home had burned down the night before.

He's already dealing with a lot right now. Right before Christmas he completed one round of chemo and radiation for lung cancer, and radiation for a tumor on his spine. The next stage of his treatment includes physical therapy and another round of chemo. He's been in and out of the hospital since Christmas Eve with complications and was finally feeling stronger.

His dogs are okay but he lost everything in the fire, including clothing, household goods, the computers he used for working from home as a writer, and his wife's ashes. Unfortunately, he didn't have insurance to cover the contents of the house.

He hopes to keep the land and move into another mobile home on the property. He lives on a few acres in the country near the Missouri/Arkansas line and loves it there. He's staying with friends for now.

I wasn't going to set up an account initially, but decided to go ahead after several people asked for a way to help.  Thanks so much! We appreciate your generosity.
