Army Vet Living in Car to be a Doc

Donation protected
After years of preparation one of my former medical assistants was accepted into medical school. He is an Army veteran, served in Afghanistan and Iraq and saw the absolute worse of humanity but managed to retain his.  He used his GI Bill and worked full-time making a little more than minimum wage and got a degree in Microbiology.

His work ethic was exemplary. He rode his bike to work to save money. One day he was hit by a car and still came in to work.  While he had no injuries, his bike was mangled, so I asked one of the partners to split the cost of a bike with me and he was kind enough to purchase the bike.

He was working and saving money to study for the MCAT, take a review course, and go to interviews when I finally told him he was wasting his time and said I would fire him if he didnt do this. I paid for his MCAT etc and he made all of us proud and was accepted into medical school.

I spoke with him to congratulate him and welcome him to the club. He never mentioned this, but at the end of the conversation I asked him where he was staying,  as I had moved accross the country.  He said he got out of his apartment, is working full time and staying in his car to save up the deposit for school for the next 2 months. (med school loans are disbursed first few weeks of school)

His background is sinmilar to mine and his family does not have the resources to help, he is on his own.  I wish I could do more for him but I have my own student loans to deal with.

Make this a reality for this Army vet who has done so much for this country and make things a little easier for him the next 2 months.
