Help for Baby Arlowe and Family!
Donation protected
Arlowe Dorian Gabriel Rader was born June 18, 2016 at 36 weeks to Jennifer Wipf and Robert Rader. In utero, as his penis formed, an extra flap of skin grew inside that prevented him from peeing all the way (posterior urethral valves). His fluid started to drop because of this, and Jennifer was forced to deliver a month early. After he was born, the doctor removed that extra bit to prevent further damage, but a lot of damage was already done to his kidneys and his bladder. Currently, and most likely for his entire life, he'll need to be cathetered every 3 hours to drain his urine. He starts on his second surgery tomorrow (June 30) to add a hole to his belly to help keep his bladder empty and to prepare him for dialysis. After some more tests and after dialysis starts, Robert is preparing to give his son Arlowe a kidney. They will be heading to Portland in 3-6 months for the transplant. Until then, they are in the NICU in Anchorage, away from Arlowe's older sister Scarlet who is here in Fairbanks.
I am asking for donations to help with their bills here in Fairbanks, since they are in Anchorage and are not able to return to work until after the transplant; and also to help with the costs of being in Anchorage (transportation, food). Any amount will help! I know what it is like being down there at the Children's Hospital, and the stress about funds can be overwhelming, so any help or words of encouragement for them is greatly appreciated. Thank you, and please share!
