Arlo's FIP treatment
Donation protected
Arlo was found dumped by the pet shops in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
It immediately became apparent that this boy was sick and hadn't received the care he needed.
Arlo was taken to the vet, where he was hospitalised, put on a drip and various tests were run. He was deteriorating fast. He even went blind from one day to the next (you can see his enlarged pupils in the photo below) and started suffering from seizures.
The vet quickly concluded that Arlo was suffering from neurological FIP. As he wasn't eating, treatment by way of injections were started immediately.
Unfortunately, Arlo had an adverse reaction to the injections and, whilst they saved his life and meant he got his sight back, they caused painful sores on his body. A fish graft had to be done to help some of the sores heal. As soon as he started eating again, Arlo was switched from injections to pills to treat his neurological FIP.
Arlo has now completed 42 (of around 84) days of treatment and has been discharged to the home of his rescuer. He is doing really well and is active and playing again. Being able to wander around and interact with the rescuer's other kitties, has greatly improved his spirits whilst he finishes his FIP treatment.
To date, Arlo's vet bill comes to GBP1,500 for his FIP treatment alone. We are fundraising to help cover part of Arlo's FIP bill. His rescuer has 30+ cats in her care and uses her own time and money to help these kitties. The money spent on Arlo's treatment is diverting funds from other much-needed rescue and TNR (trap-neuter-return) efforts.
Thank you for your support for Arlo.
