I am the grand mother to Arianna Victoria Ortiz, who is pictured here. We are raising money that will be used for Arianna to attend a two week session at a sleep away camp in up state New York, August, 2017.
This is Ari's story:
Hello,
My name is Arianna Oriz and I am seeking funding to support my returning to camp this summer.
Last year, I went to camp for the first time, and had the best time ever. I met so many people who were just kind and helped when I felt shy or unsure of myself. I would love to go back to camp this summer too. That camp experience helped me to be more confident and comfortable with myself, and I feel like I carried camp with me all school year long. I am looking forward to having an even better time this summer, because I know I will try even more things I had not tried before.
I love swimming, and I loved swimming with the friends I made at camp. I never laughed so much with friends before, and I loved the experience of feeling so free. It felt really great to be out of the city and to be able to see all the stars in the sky at night. It was wonderful to smell the fresh air in the morning and feel the cool air at night.
Best of all, was making friends with people from different neighborhoods and different parts of the world, and many with very different ways of seeing life. I learned so much from those shared differences and experiences. We showed respect for those differences and each other. It made me feel good to be different and respected at the same time. I would love to have that camp experience again, and to experience the fun and learning adventures that I remember.
I am thinking I want to contribute also, so my plan was to save birthday and holiday money to help pay for someparts of my camping outing.
This year, I need $1500 for the tuition. Please help fund me in any small or large way. Any amount will be very appreciated and any amount will help in a BIG way.
