Aria Jean Pierce

Aria Jean Pierce was born on December 18 2017.  Her birth into this world was nothing short of a miracle.  As she was about to enter the world naturally our midwife noticed something while doing a dilation check.  Her umbilical cord was coming out.  The cord was being pressed out by her head causing serious strain on her heart.  If the cord were to come out all life would have been cut off to Aria.  Our midwife held the umbilical cord in place while riding the bed into an operating room where an emergency c section was performed.  All of this happened in the matter of minutes. I can’t begin to explain the emotional roller coaster my wife, myself, and our families were on.  With the help of an amazing surgical team our little baby girl was born and appeared happy and healthy.  After two nights in the hospital her doctor was examining her and noticed something wasn’t quite right. He explained to us that she had a heart murmur. If you’re a parent this is news you don’t ever want to hear.  We were sent to Children’s Memorial Hospital that afternoon.  There they discovered Aria suffers from three separate congenital heart defects.  She has been diagnosed with an Atrial Septal Defect, Ventrical Septal Defect, and Pulmonary Stenosis.  To keep it simple she has two large holes in her heart and a valve that is restricting blood flow.  The cardiologists at Children’s informed us that Aria will have to have an open heart surgery,  as the holes are too large to close themselves or to survive with.  This surgery will take place as close to the six month mark as possible.  We will have weekly appointments an hour away until surgery to monitor her progress.  Having two other children at home will make these trips interesting and costly. Aria will be a lifelong patient with Children’s Hospital and we are convinced they will take excellent care of her. These procedures will hopefully be successful in giving Aria a chance at a great life.  All of these events will unfortunately require a lot of money for medical bills  that our family simply doesn’t have.  We are hopeful that the Gofundme community is willing to help.  All donations are welcome even if it is just a prayer for our beautiful little baby.
