Ari's surgery

This is my sweetie, Ari. He is my handsome boy. 

I got him 6 years ago from a neighbor who's mother didn't want him because he doesn't go outside. My best guess is he is 9 years old. Ever since I have gotten him he has had a history of urinary tract problems - cystitis, UTIs, and crystals. These are life threatening situations in male cats. We have dealt with it as best we can but he has blocked 3 times in the past and is fighting a blockage now. On Sunday night I had to take him in to the ER vet because he could not pee, and he was at the vet on Monday on fluids and medication. On Tuesday we decided to put a catheter in because an ultrasound showed his urine was sludgy and he was at extremely high risk of blocking completely. He stayed at the vet from Tuesday to Friday.

So far, this current UTI and crystal episode has cost $2,000.



There is a surgery we can do to widen his urethra (called a Perineal Urethrostomy), and reduce the chances of these issues ever happening again, but it's going to cost us another $2,000.  

We don't have the money but I can't stand to see my baby in pain. Even after a 4 days at the vet on fluids and with a urinary catheter, he is still having problems. He came home on friday and has spent the nights since crying and growling as he tries to pee, constantly licking. Increased doses of medication aren't helping. We don't have a choice but to do the surgery now. We were hoping to do it later in the year when we had more funds but we can't wait that long. Every day he can't properly urinate is an increased risk of him blocking again, and the irritation and infection getting worse.

Please, anything you can give to help is appreciated. I just want my sweetie to be comfortable again, and not have to worry about him blocking overnight. I don't want him to have to go through this ever again.
