Ari's Journey HLHS & Trisomy 18

At 11 weeks pregnant Charmian Stephens was diagnosed with a very rare chromosomal disorder named Trisomy 18(Edward's Syndrome). Trisomy 18, also known as Edwards syndrome, is a condition which is caused by a error in cell division, known as meiotic disjunction. When this happens, instead of the normal pair, an extra chromosome 18 results (a triple) in the developing baby and disrupts the normal pattern of development in significant ways that can be life-threatening, even before birth. Hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS) is a rare congenital heart defect in which the left side of the heart is severely underdeveloped. It may affect the left ventricle, aorta, aortic valve, or mitral valve. On March 13th at 6:36pm 5pds 3ozs Ari Alexandria was born and unfortunately soon after Ari was born she took a horrible turn for the worse. We have been told there's nothing else that can be done for her. She's in the care of Hospice, We are rasing money to help with baby Ari's expenses and family.
