Hace aproximadamente un año que mi mama fue diagnosticada con la enfermedad de Lou Gehrig, la enfermedad más conocida como ALS. Aunque la esperanza de vida para ALS varia de 2 a 5 años, mi mamá progresó un poco más rápido. Ella está en las últimas etapas de ALS y su esperanza de vida ahora es unos pocos días.
Desde el inicio de este año la hemos visto perder su apetito, su resistencia, su fuerza e incluso su capacidad para caminar y hablar. Su cuerpo ha seguido fallando y lo único que queda es el latido débil de su corazón.
Es difícil de ver y más difícil cuando nos damos cuenta del constante dolor en que se encuentra. Siempre ha sido una madre amorosa, una amiga leal y una persona de buen corazón, pero su tiempo ya está llegando. Solo esperamos que se vaya en paz.
Con estas donaciones planeamos cubrir los fondos funerarios de nuestra madre, y también sus cuentas médicas. Aunque na hay duda que ayudaremos con los gastos, nosotros, sus hijos, todavía somos jóven y nuevos en nuestras carreras, y, no es suficiente. Como amigos y familiares de mi mama, solo espero que se pueda ahorrar un centavo para ayudar a nuestra mama a descansar.
Aunque ella nos está dejando, su alma y los buenos recuerdos la mantendrán viva en nuestros corazones.

About a year ago my mother was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's Disease, the disease more commonly known as ALS. Though the life expectancy for ALS ranges from 2 - 5 years, my mother's progressed just a bit faster than the norm. She is in the last stages of ALS and her life expectancy is now in the range of a few days.
Throughout this year we have watched her lose her appetite, her endurance, her strength, and even her ability to walk and speak. In these last stages of ALS, her body has continued to break down and the only thing left is the beating of her weak heart.
It is really difficult to watch and more difficult when we realize the constant pain she is in. She has always been a loving mother, a loyal friend and a kind-hearted person, but her time is reaching an end. What we can truly hope is that her departure is a peaceful one.
With these donations we plan to cover our mother's funeral funds as well as her medical bills. We, her kids, are still incredibly young and new in our careers, and though we did not hesitate to help with expenses, it simply wasn't enough. As friends and family of my mother, I can only hope that a cent can be spared to help our mom rest comfortably.
Though she is leaving us, her soul and our fond memories will keep her alive in our hearts.
