Arcadia: Gaming Through A Pandemic And Beyond

Donation protected
Hello friends of Arcadia.

What a stupid year we've had. Closed for almost a year now,  the punishment bars have taken has reached a breaking point for us. We held on as long as we could without asking for help and here is where we are.

If we want to open again, it has to be in a safe manner, so we need to move to a bigger space. If we're gonna do that, let's move to a space that deserves to be kept local.

504 Congress St, the old Port City Music Hall, is the fit we are looking for. It will take a few months to get ready, to make the space our own and to bring in games/equipment/etc. but we believe this is the way to keep Arcadia going in a pandemic and come out the other side.

While folks continue to wear masks and get vaccinated, we'll be able to spread everyone out so they can game and hang out again. When the world can be social like it used to be, we want to be able to have performances, art shows and parties.

So after being financially decimated over the last year, we are asking our community for help. We want to provide you with an amazing space, a large arcade (3x as many games) and a spot you can hang out at throughout the week.

I'm not just going to ask you for money and not show you what our cash situation has been, so here ya go...

Financial transparency report:
--------------------------------------------
We took out an SBA loan of $70,000 at the beginning of the pandemic that helped us pay bills, rent, PPE - but that's gone and we'll have to repay it.

We received two rounds of PPP that went to our employees, landlord and utilities - none of it stayed with the business. We hope it will be forgiven.

We received a $36,000 grant from the state. We have used that as a First, Last Security on our new space and to help us move out of the old space.

I have sold 43% of the bar to new partners because we had run out of money.  You'll meet them soon. Or maybe you already know them.
-----------------------------------------------

We are essentially starting from scratch once again. If you believe in us, please consider a contribution.

I just want a place for our community to play games, enjoy food and drink, be together and have fun. Whatever money we make, we've always put back into the business for more games, renovations and good times. I look forward to returning to those days.

We will continue to use our voice to be Pro BLM, Pro LGBTQ, Pro Universal Health Care, Pro Choice, Pro Sex Work, Pro Science and stand up for progressive policies both locally and nationally.

Love you so much.
Dave
