AR Projects - Food Aid - Community Support
Our journey began in October 2020, born from the profound loss experienced by our founder, Stefan Jones. His mother's battle with drug addiction and homelessness ignited a fire within him, propelling him to create an organization dedicated to eradicate the scourge of food insecurity in our society.
As the first year unfolded, we came face to face with the stark reality that plagues too many Londoners – the relentless grip of poverty, the heart-wrenching clutches of addiction, and the silent struggles of mental health.
It was clear that our mission had to evolve beyond providing meals; we needed to stand as a pillar of support for our community. And so, in December 2021, we took the step of registering as a Community Interest Company, embracing our identity as a not-for-profit entity that channels every ounce of its energy back into the lives of those who need it the most.
Today, the impact of AR Projects reverberates through the streets of London. Month after month, we extend warmth and sustenance to 1600 individuals, becoming a lifeline that eases their struggles. But our impact isn't limited to nourishing the body – we believe in nourishing the spirit and the soul. Through three mobile soup kitchen hubs, we offer not only nourishing meals but also clothing to shield against the biting cold, hygiene essentials to restore dignity, and crucially, a listening ear for those who yearn to share their stories.
We've formed partnerships with incredible organizations to address food insecurity, resulting in a monthly surplus of 2.6 tonnes of food. This surplus is a critical resource for the people we assist, making a crucial difference in whether they or their children have enough to eat. Yet, the challenges persist.
The cost of living crisis tightens its grip, forcing families and individuals into impossible choices. The specter of homelessness looms larger than ever, leaving lives shattered and dreams shattered. We cannot – and will not – stand idly by.
