Fighting The Good Fight

Donation protected
In March of 2014, my Mom (Nancy) was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer.  Within 2 weeks of her diagnosis she was told if she takes a VERY aggressive Chemo schedule she could have a fighting chance, if she didn't go that route she would NOT be with us come Christmas. For her family, friends and herself.... She chose to FIGHT!

With Chemo every other Wednesday at Baylor's Sammons Cancer Center since March, tons of testing and not being able to work.... It has taken a toll on her physically, mentally, financially and emtionally. She has however kept her fighting spirit and her faith in God.

If you know my Mom, you know she is a fantastic person! She has always been that woman who would give the shirt off her back to help some one in need. If she couldn't help some one financially, she gave her time, her support and her love. Setting up fundraisers for others in need was nothing new to Mom. I however, did not inheirit her organizational skills so this is the way I am going.

I took Mom in two weeks ago to get "unhooked". She sits hooked up to a Chemo drip all day, every other Wednesday (Dad and Sister take turns sitting with her and I take her on Fridays) they attach her to a portable drip and she carries it around until Friday, goes back and they unhook her.  While we were there she needed to pick up some billing paperwork and set up a payment schedule. Even with her insurance, I had NO idea that her bill had already climbed to over $24,000!!!  I was shocked, she shook it off. Said nothing is to much when it might provide her a little more time with my Dad and the rest of our knuckleheaded family. If you have ever seen us out in public, we travel in a pack (all thanks to Mom), sort of like a small gang..... Maybe we need a hand sign and a bandana color (LOL)!

With her prudent planning, she had a some savings, disability insurance and great medical through her employer. However, she can not work right now and she is unsure if and when she might be able to. The Chemo is to aggressive.  Any little bit you feel like donating would be a HUGE help. Even if you can't help financially, sending her your thoughts, love and prayers would be AMAZING!

Thank you for taking the time to read all of this. If you have any questions, comments or inquiries.... Please feel free to contact me.
