Let’s help make a dream come true…..

Georgia grew up in a rural town in Jamaica with her mother and younger brother. She found a friend in her little black puppy Blade, which blossomed into a love for all animals. She moved to the city and later started high school where she worked hard studying in the sciences. She volunteered at a local veterinary clinic on weekends and during the holidays to gain experience with animals. Her passion grew and now it was certain that she wanted to become a Veterinarian.

After high school she began searching for veterinary schools but her search came up short as there were no such schools found in Jamaica. She then enrolled at a local Agricultural college for a pre-vet programme which she would then use in her applications for international schools. She completed the 2 year programme and earned herself an Associate’s degree in Veterinary Science.

She was later accepted into two international Veterinary schools but due to lack of adequate funding for tuition, she had to decline both offers. Determined however to follow her dreams, she took on a job as a veterinary technician at the Jamaica Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (JSPCA) and whatever her earnings, she’d put into savings for school. On her days off she devoted her time towards volunteering at free clinics put on by the Montego Bay Animal Haven (MBAH) in order to gain experience.

Now she is in need of financial help. She has recently been accepted into a Veterinary programme at the University of the West Indies’ Trinidad campus but her savings just aren’t enough. This is where we need your help. The JSPCA and the Montego Bay Animal Haven are joining forces because we believe in Georgia. She needs the help mostly for her first year as scholarships are made availa ble for second year or returning students.

Georgia wishes to return to Jamaica to help our animals here and to set an example that if you study hard and have a vision, dreams really can come true. Let’s all come together and help a hard working young lady make a difference. Let’s believe in chances, let’s believe in miracles, and let’s believe in dreams.
