This Fall, I will partner with Be2Live and travel to Ghana, Africa to help support City of Refuge Ministries. I'm asking your support to make this a reality.
Five years ago, I met the couple who began this work and never in my wildest dreams thought I'd be going to help them now. I knew that one day I would be visiting Africa, but did not know that now is the time until my last birthday in February. I knew then, it was destiny. I truly feel, it's beginning the next chapter in my life, as well. I know there will be a continual support of this endeavor. I knew this when I met that couple way back in May, 2009. We both share our hearts for those considered "less than". I have the great privilege to go visit, work alongside and help this ministry in Ghana, Africa who is doing the work that I do here in the states.

"Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute." Psm. 31:8

Meet City of Refuge Ministries:
PREVENTION
City of Refuge Ministries is working to not only rescue children out of child slavery but also to prevent children from being sold. We are doing this by empowering single mothers who are vulnerable to selling their children.
In 2010 we began to take steps to try to eliminate one very specific component from the cycle of child trafficking, vulnerable single moms living in both lake and coastal communities. Our belief is that if we can empower single mothers economically and educationally they will no longer be vulnerable to selling their children to Lake Volta’s fishermen.
We are also working in several communities to provide education to the people about the issue of slavery and what is happening to the children once they are sent to work at the lake.
INTERVENTION
City of Refuge Ministries is a grass-roots organization extending the hand of Jesus Christ to the children of Ghana, who have been trafficked, orphaned, or abandoned.
RESTORATION
At the City of Refuge Ministries Children's Village we make it our priority to provide each child an education, discipleship, medical treatment and love. We do this through our residential program and our school, Faith Roots International Academy. I've been studying Peter and reading a little book called Moving Beyond Failure. "Peter reminds us that coming to Christ is an event, but becoming like Jesus is a journey. Along the way, we have ups and downs, like Peter, but we can trust in the strength of Christ to enable us to be useful---in spite of our human failings and inadequacies. We can grow in Christ's grace and knowledge. And we can, in prayer, find His mercy and grace to help us in our time of need." Heb. 4:16
