April’s Road to Recovery

My sister April and her beautiful family needs financial help and your prayers. On February 17th, after suffering for nearly a month with severe neck pain and losing function of her arms and legs, April was diagnosed with a “strep” infection in her spinal cord. After a long 9-hour surgery to remove the infection, it was discovered that two of her vertebra were completely gone due to damage from the infection. After surgery, April discovered that she still had no feeling in her legs or arms. She went home on March 20 with some progress, but it is going to be a long road of recovery ahead! She is in a wheelchair, with no feeling in her abdomen. She has some strength and feeling in her legs and has gained some strength in her arms. She is getting better with her fingers, but still struggles doing basic things. She has to wear what is called a halo for the next couple of months, making it even more difficult to move. The final diagnosis is unknown, but April is a fighter and I have no doubt she will walk again!

April’s big family is in desperate need of financial help and that’s why I’m reaching out. April has 4 beautiful children and her boyfriend Nygel has two. April cannot work. She has not had any income for nearly two months and Nygel has used all his time off caring for her, and the children. She is applying for disability, but this process is long, and she was told it could take 4-5 months for a decision to be made. They cannot live off only one income with this size of family and they are running out of money. April is afraid of falling behind on rent and losing her home while she is in a wheelchair. She is stressing about feeding her children. April has always been a “Super Woman” to me and now she needs hero’s! Our prayer is that she can focus on her recovery without worrying about food and shelter. Any donation and all prayers would be greatly appreciated!
