Appendix Goes NUCLEAR - 20 yr old NEW Father

On Nov 1, 2019, Christopher St. Clair, our 20 yr old son in northeastern PA - and a brand new father of a baby girl, Delilah Elaine St. Clair (born Oct 29th (only 48 hours prior), was rushed to the hospital (after vomiting all day) with severe abdominal pains.

This resulted in 3 serious surgeries in less than two weeks, with partial removal of his Colon & Small Intestine due to a 'nuclear' rupture of his Appendix.

Between surgeries, Chris's condition was so severe/dire that the Dr's had to heavily sedate him (a coma-like state) because the Appendix burst so badly.  Infection was spreading and the surgeons could not fully remove the Appendix.  Chris's incisions were left 'open' and could not be stitched up until Dr's felt they could go back in, deal with the infection and remove all/part of other organs affected.

Seeing Chris lay in ICU, frail and unable to wake up, loaded with tubes, ports, wires, and monitors was unbelievably disturbing...and just SO sudden!  The 'fragility' of life was all that we could think of.

Today, Nov 23, 2019, Chris remains hospitalized and is still dealing with complications, infection, fevers and more.  He is weak and  frustrated and just wants to go home to his family - especially his newborn baby girl - whom he has only seen a few days in over 3 weeks.

Chris had just secured a new full-time job -- only 1 week before this medical emergency struck - but has no 'Paid Leave', Disability Insurance or PTO time to use, which leaves him, his soon-to-be wife, and his baby daughter with no paychecks coming in....or savings to rely on.

The recovery will be a lengthy one - Chris has a long road ahead of him, including months of Rehab.  The Dr's have already indicated they are 'uncertain' as to his release date to go back to work in 2020.

We, Randy & Sherri St. Clair (his parents), are doing all we can to help.  With full-time jobs ourselves, we are unable to financially support another household of three.  We had no other option but to reach out to the incredibly generous GoFundMe supporters and respectfully request donations of any amount (every $2 counts).

Our goal is to raise at least $10,000 for our son and his family's household expenses (rent, medical bills, food, car bills, baby formula & diapers, etc.), so they can put their lives back together in the coming months.

Since Chris is still hospitalized, we will graciously handle transferring all donations to our son's bank account to be sure all bills are paid in a timely manner.  There are many needs - but they certainly can't afford to lose their apartment with winter quickly approaching.

Respectfully,

Randy & Sherri St. Clair, Parents of Chris
Pennsylvania
