APPEAL TO REBUILD SHIRDI SAI BABA TEMPLE OF SAN ANTONIO

Thank you for your donation and patronage towards the new Sai Temple of San Antonio. Your donations will go towards building a permanent abode for Sai in San Antonio.

With HIS grace and your support, the Temple construction committee is aggressively working towards Main Baba Mandir construction to complete by Oct 2018, to commensurate 100 years of Baba's Mahasamadhi. The current cost estimates to complete phase1 of the temple are around $1.4M to $1.6M. This initial phase to include Main Baba Mandir, Prasadaalayam and all the architectural and city commitments associated with them.

The Temple fund raising team is planning various activities for the next 12 to 18 months in an effort to raise funds for the construction. We are targeting June 2017 to break the ground and your donations go a long way for that. Please see the attached documents for the donor benefits and a sample of the temple donor wall that will permanently display names of the donors that made Sai Temple in San Antonio a reality.  For your future donations in 2017 and 2018, please consider Sai Temple as one of your beneficiaries. All your donations from 2016 through 2018 will be combined and the appropriate sponsor level will be applied.

Thank you again for your generous contribution that helps builds a legacy for the future generations in San Antonio to enjoy.

May Sai bless us all!

Previous message about our Temple and events leading to the incident:

Our Shirdi Sai Baba Temple of San Antonio, Texas, a registered 501(c)(3) Non-Profit organization was started on the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima in July 2014. Initially what started as a small prayer hall in a commercial office complex but very soon grew into a regular temple with Baba moola vigraha pratistha in June 2015. Every Thursday hundreds of devotees visit our temple to pray for Baba and receive his divine blessings.

Unfortunately, in the early hours of October 8th, 2016 our temple had a fire. 28 fire trucks battled the fire for about 40 minutes but could not save our temple. It was reduced to rubble and ash. The Baba devotee community is shell shocked and devastated. We had organized Navaratri festivities in the temple during this time and the celebrations were in full swing. Media coverage of this incident (see below) was unbearable to watch. Our Baba’s vigraha was engulfed in a massive fire as the burning roof collapsed. It seemed as if Baba took this on himself to save hundreds of devotees.

Other than temple services, the temple regularly participated in the following charitable events:

1. Participated in various charities locally and globally. Food drives were organized during Guru Purinma & Thanksgiving Day and the temple donated collected items to the San Antonio Food Bank and Haven for Hope, the sole local charity that feeds the homeless.

2. School supplies for students during the start of school year.

3. Toy drive during Christmas for children.

4. Collective donations during major disasters, such as the Nepal Earthquake and Chennai floods.

5. Every Thursday our temple used to serve prasad (sanctified vegetarian) dinner to over 250 devotees.

6. On each festival occasion such as Guru Purnima, Baba Mahasamadhi, Sri Rama Navami, New Year Day, etc., the temple used to serve prasad to hundreds of devotees.

We request you all to kindly pray for us and help support the Baba mission in San Antonio, Texas.  We are accepting donations either by check (in favor of ‘SSTSA’) or online at our website: http://www.saisanantonio.org/.
