<div>Este viaje a México tenía un propósito sencillo y hermoso: realizar unas diligencias y compartir tiempo con nuestra familia. Como siempre, renté un carro para movernos con tranquilidad. Pero el 29 de noviembre nuestra vida cambió en un instante. Una conductora distraída en su teléfono se pasó la luz roja y nos chocó mientras yo tenía luz verde. En el auto íbamos mi mamá, mi hermano, mi esposo y yo.

<div>El miedo, el impacto, el desconcierto… todo sucedió en un segundo. Mi mente y mi corazón solo podían pensar en ellos. Gracias a Dios estamos vivos, pero cada uno sufrió lesiones que requieren atención médica, y ahora enfrentamos un proceso de recuperación que nos une, pero que también nos desafía física, emocional y económicamente.

<div>Aunque el carro de renta tenía seguro, la cobertura médica en México es muy limitada. Somos cuatro personas necesitando atención y terapias que el seguro simplemente no cubre. Ver a mi familia lastimada y no contar con los recursos suficientes para ofrecerles la atención que merecen ha sido una experiencia profundamente dolorosa.

<div>Siempre he tratado de estar para los demás, pero hoy, con mucha humildad, me toca pedir ayuda para mí y para mi familia.

<div>This trip to Mexico had a simple and beautiful purpose: to take care of some errands and spend time with our family. As I always do when I come, I rented a car so we could get around safely. But on November 29th, our life changed in an instant. A driver distracted by her phone ran a red light and crashed into us while I had the green light. In the car were my mom, my brother, my husband, and me.

<div>The fear, the impact, the confusion… everything happened in a second. My mind and my heart could only think of them. Thank God we are alive, but each of us suffered injuries that require medical attention. Now we are facing a recovery process that brings us together, but also challenges us physically, emotionally, and financially.

<div>Although the rental car had insurance, medical coverage in Mexico is very limited. We are four people needing medical care and therapies that the insurance simply does not cover. Seeing my family hurt and not having the resources to provide them with the care they deserve has been deeply painful.

<div>I have always tried to be there for others, but today, with much humility, I find myself needing to ask for help for me and my family.
