Information Builds Community

Information can change a decision, open new opportunities, protect someone's rights, or remind a person that they are not alone. When information is clear, trustworthy, and accessible, it also builds community.

That has been the purpose of my work over the past several years: creating and sharing Spanish-language resources that help LGBTQIA+ people—especially those navigating migration or facing barriers to accessing their rights—find reliable information, guidance, and supportive spaces where they feel welcome.

Over time, this work has grown into a network of information, resources, and community spaces that continues to evolve in response to our community's needs. Through educational content, virtual and in-person support groups, learning opportunities, and collaborative initiatives, we work to make reliable information more accessible, strengthen community connections, and create opportunities for more people to learn, participate, and grow together.

What many people see is the final result: an article, a guide, a shared resource, or a community gathering. What often goes unseen are the hours of research, planning, design, coordination, and the digital tools that make all of this work possible and freely accessible.

Making this work possible requires communication platforms, content creation tools, web hosting, internet connectivity, and other essential resources that support these efforts every day.

This campaign helps ensure that this community work can continue to grow and reach more people.

La información también construye comunidad

La información puede cambiar una decisión, abrir una oportunidad, proteger un derecho o hacer que una persona deje de sentirse sola. Cuando es clara, confiable y accesible, la información también construye comunidad.

Ese ha sido el propósito de mi trabajo durante los últimos años: crear y compartir recursos en español que ayuden a las personas LGBTQIA+, especialmente a quienes migran o enfrentan barreras para acceder a sus derechos, a encontrar orientación, información confiable y espacios donde sentirse acompañadas.

Con el tiempo, este trabajo ha dado origen a una red de información, recursos y espacios comunitarios que continúa creciendo para responder a las necesidades de nuestra comunidad. A través de contenidos educativos, grupos de apoyo virtuales y presenciales, espacios de aprendizaje e iniciativas colaborativas, buscamos acercar información confiable, fortalecer la comunidad y generar oportunidades para que más personas puedan aprender, participar y crecer juntas.

Lo que muchas personas ven es el resultado final: un artículo, una guía, un recurso compartido o un encuentro. Lo que casi nunca se ve son las horas de investigación, planificación, diseño, coordinación y las herramientas que hacen posible que este trabajo permanezca disponible de forma gratuita.

Hacer posible esta labor requiere plataformas de comunicación, herramientas para crear contenidos, alojamiento web, conectividad y otros recursos que sostienen este trabajo día tras día.

Esta campaña busca hacer posible que esta labor comunitaria continúe creciendo y llegue a más personas.
