<div>Hola, mi nombre es Celyna, y el valiente para el que les vengo a pedir ayuda se llama José Ramon Celaya, tiene 55 años, muchos lo conocen como Monchi, Ramonchico, tío mon, pero para su compañera de vida es amor, y para mí y mis hermanos es papá, aunque la mayoría de las veces para serles honesta es papi.

<div>Nosotros vivimos en la ciudad de Puerto Peñasco, Sonora, y quien sea que tiene la fortuna de conocer a mi papá les puede decir que él es conocido por ser el alma de la fiesta, el más bromista, el que anda para todos lados todo el tiempo sin parar, un alma libre y en movimiento constante, que reparte sonrisas incluso en los días más oscuros. Bueno, al menos, lo era. En los últimos 4 meses, lo que comenzó como un molesto dolor de rodilla se convirtió en la peor experiencia que mi familia ha tenido que pasar.

<div>El pasado 08 de Junio del 2024, después de ya algún tiempecito batallando con un insufrible dolor de rodilla, al grado de tener que utilizar muletas, y de varias radiografías a la rodilla en la que no se mostraba nada raro, mi papá acudió por recomendación de un amigo a hacerse de nuevo un estudio una radiografía de la pierna completa en la que se miraba una “mancha” en su fémur izquierdo, para suerte de nosotros, esta persona se especializaba en radiología oncológica, y comentó que no le gustaba, y que había que hacer mas estudios como una tomografía y una biopsia. Mientras todo esto estaba pasando, durante los estudios que le hicieron a mi papá en el seguro en una de esas idas a urgencias por su dolor, se dieron cuenta que su antígeno prostático estaba en 23 (valor promedio de hombres de 50-60 años va de 0 a 3.5 ng/ml), lo cual solo podía indicar una cosa; mi papá tenía cáncer, un cáncer que había estado encapsulado y creciendo asintomático en su cuerpo por ya bastante tiempo.

<div>Después de su diagnóstico de cáncer prostático estadio 4 con metástasis a fémur izquierdo, un día normal mientras se bañaba para una cita médica, mi papá sintió un dolor inmenso (más de lo normal) en su pierna; su hueso no aguanto más, su fémur se había quebrado y tenían que operarlo inmediatamente. Nos fuimos a la ciudad de Nogales, en donde le hicieron su cirugía para colocarle unos fijadores externos en el fémur, le administraron los medicamentos más fuertes que podían y apenas podían ayudarlo para su dolor, aun así él siempre mantuvo su característica actitud positiva, hasta que un día nos avisaron que mi abuela, su mama, había fallecido, y mi papa por su condición, encamado con ya dos quimios y una radiación en la cuenta y una infección en su pierna creciendo día con día, le fue imposible decirle el último adiós a su mama.

<div>Justo cuando pensamos que no se podía poner peor, su infección en lugar de mejorar empeoraba, el cáncer del fémur fue tan agresivo que los médicos nos dijeron que no había otra opción más que amputarle la pierna completa, porque no nos podíamos dar el lujo de darle oportunidad al cáncer de volver. Y así fue, le amputaron su pierna y después de unas semanas en el hospital pudimos regresar a Peñasco, porque ya pasó lo difícil, ahora viene lo más difícil. Mi papá aún tiene cáncer prostático y está recibiendo quimioterapias, tenemos que seguir luchando contra la enfermedad mientras se recupera y comienza su rehabilitación para poder tener su prótesis.

<div>Recordemos que todo esto ha pasado en el transcurso de 4 meses, los cuales se han sentido como segundos, y en esos segundos las cuentas médicas se han ido acumulando más y más. Mi papa no deja de sonreír y tener la mejor actitud, aunque él también ya tiene sus días de duelo por un dolor incurable de una pierna que ya no existe el famoso dolor del miembro fantasma, sin embargo, él no se rinde, sigue positivo y con la mejor actitud diciendo que el cáncer no es nada para él. Por eso en nombre mío y de mi familia les pedimos apoyo, para poder solventar este difícil camino que mi papá apenas acaba de comenzar, queda un camino muy largo, y necesitamos apoyo para seguir luchando por una persona que tiene muchas ganas de vivir. El todos los días nos dice que él no ha terminado, a él le falta mucho por vivir y mucha alegría por repartir, por favor ayúdenos a seguir luchando.

<div>On June 8th, 2024, after some time battling with unbearable knee pain, to the point of having to use crutches, and several knee x-rays in which nothing strange was shown, my dad went on the recommendation of a friend to have another x-ray of his full leg done in which a "spot" was seen on his left femur. Luckily for us, this person was specialized on oncologic radiology, and said that he didn't like it, and that more studies needed to be done such as a CT scan and a biopsy. While all this was happening, during the studies that my dad had done at the hospital, on one of those trips to the emergency room for his pain, they realized that his prostate antigen was at 23 (average value for men aged 50-60 ranges from 0 to 3.5 ng/ml), which could only indicate one thing; My dad had cancer, a cancer that had been encapsulated and growing asymptomatic in his body for quite some time.

<div>After his diagnosis of stage 4 prostate cancer with metastasis to the left femur, one normal day while he was taking a shower for a medical appointment, my dad felt immense pain (more than normal) in his leg; his bone could not hold up any longer, his femur had broken and needed an immediate operation. We went to the city of Nogales, where they performed his surgery to place external fixators on his femur, they gave him the strongest medications they could and they could barely help him with his pain, despite of, he always maintained his characteristic positive attitude, until we receive the bad news that my grandmother, his mother, had passed away, and my dad, due to his condition, bedridden with two chemos, one radiation and an infection in his leg growing day by day, was unable to say his last goodbye to his mother.

<div>Just when we thought it couldn't get any worse, his infection instead of getting better it got worse. The cancer in his femur was so aggressive that the doctors told us there was no other option but to amputate his entire leg, because we couldn't risk to give the cancer a chance to come back. So they amputated his leg and after a few weeks in the hospital we were able to return to Peñasco, because the hard part was over, but now comes the hardest part. My dad still has prostate cancer and is receiving chemotherapy. We have to continue fighting the disease while he recovers and begins his rehabilitation to be able to have his prosthesis.

<div>Let us remember that all this has happened over the course of 4 months, which have felt like seconds, and in those seconds the medical bills have been piling up more and more. My dad never stops smiling and having the best attitude, although he also has his days of mourning due to an incurable pain in one leg that no longer exists, the famous phantom limb pain, however, he does not give up, he remains positive and with the best attitude saying that cancer is nothing for him. That is why on behalf of myself and my family we ask for your support, to be able to solve this difficult path that my dad has just begun, there is a very long road ahead, and we need support to continue fighting for a person who really wants to live. He tells us every day that he has not finished, he still has a lot to live and a lot of joy to share, please help us continue fighting.
