<div>De pasar más de la mitad de su vida en el mar haciendo lo que más le apasionaba, bucear, a estar confinado a una silla y depender de alguien más para realizar incluso sus actividades más básicas: eso es lo que ha enfrentado Javier los últimos dos años.

<div>A sus 60 años fue diagnosticado con ELA (Esclerosis lateral amiotrófica), una enfermedad neurodegenerativa, sin cura y sin tratamiento que pueda frenar su avance. Desde el 2023 Javier ha experimentado la pérdida de la movilidad de sus piernas y manos, capacidad de comer por sí solo, la capacidad de comunicarse, así como también ha perdido la capacidad de realizar las cosas que disfrutaba, como el buceo, viajar e ir al cine.

<div>Su familia y demás seres queridos nos esforzamos cada día en poder asegurarle que cada día pueda seguir viviéndolo de manera cómoda y digna, y sobre todo, feliz, esperando que esta enfermedad que le ha arrebatado ya muchas cosas no le arrebate también su espíritu alegre.

<div>From spending more than half of his life doing what he was the most passionate about, scuba diving, to be confined to a chair and be dependent of somebody else to do even the most basic things: that's what Javier has been going through the past two years.

<div>He was diagnosed at 60 with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), a neurodegenerative disease, with no cure and no treatment to prevent its progress.
