Apex Video Productions NC Victim Tribute Videos

Apex Video Productions, based in Boone, NC, seeks to support the North Carolina production community and honor victims of the COVID-19 pandemic by producing tribute videos from contributions donated through this campaign.

We want to create tribute videos that families of COVID-19 victims can have as mementos, support the North Carolina video production community, and ultimately survive as a small business.

Since mid-March, all of our video production work has been cancelled, and no new projects are coming up on the horizon.  We would typically hire teams of talented individuals to work on our projects -- camera people, sound recordists, make-up artists, and productions assistants. The effect of this work stoppage reaches out to all of those other freelance, self-employed crew members that we would regularly hire on a daily basis.

We were informed of the Small Business Relief Initiative (#SmallBusinessRelief) by Intuit Quickbooks, which has always been there supporting us as a small business with our bookkeeping needs.  This Small Business Relief Initiative through GoFundMe is a chance to help small businesses like ours survive the economic crisis we face over the next few months.

In asking for your support through this initiative, we thought about what we could give back and provide in return for the funding support of this campaign.  At this moment in time, there have been 117 people in North Carolina whom have succumbed to their COVID-19 infections and have died.  We don't want these victims to be just a statistical number.

We propose to video record and edit an individual tribute video of a person locally who has succumbed to their COVID-19 infection for every $2,400 that is raised through this campaign and your generosity.  We would record interviews with family members and friends who would tell a short story of how this person lived their life.

By locally, we mean victims anywhere in our home state of North Carolina, and South Carolina, eastern Tennessee, and South-Western Virginia.  We would record these tribute videos in the future when the restrictions in NC have been lifted and it is safe to do so for the family members of the victims we would be visiting and our crew members.   We would hope to be able to record these tribute videos in the Summer or Fall but would follow the recommendations from NC Governor, Roy Cooper, on when it would be safe to do so.

If we reach our goal of raising $50,000 with this campaign, we could produce between 20 to 25 tribute videos and it would help support production crew members across the state for several months.  If our funding goal is exceeded, then we would produce even more tribute videos and even more crew members could be supported.  If we reach $100,000 then we would be able to produce over 50 tribute videos and support an even larger number of NC production crew members.

We would pre-pay the camera people, sound recordists, production assistants, make-up artists, and editors for their future services over the next few months so they will have income coming in to support themselves and their families.  That would be a huge relief for all of them.  If you donate above $1,000 then you can nominate a victim who you know to have a tribute video produced about their life.  Just put their name in the donation comment space.

I thank you in advance for your support and generosity in support of us, as a small business, and the greater video production community here in North Carolina.
