Aperture
is an Independent Feature film by Emerald Swan Productions in association with  Elemental Drive Productions.

"In what light do you see those around you"?

Written by David T. Cowell & directed by Luke Paramanathan, Aperture is a Drama about the life of a Photographer who's life is thrown into disarray after a series of devastating events.

In more detail
Luke (David T. Cowell - Jasper Jones) is a promising photographer and living in Melbourne. As well as seeing the beauty of the world down the lens his life becomes magnified when he has to contend with the constant issues of his home and social life. His father Harvey (Paul Dawber - Erskineville Kings) has been skirting the edges of his leniency regarding a restraining order. His Mother Robyn (Mardi Edge - Picnic at Hanging Rock) is still affected by Harvey’s treatment of her and his brother Keegan (Hayden Gridley), he has gone somewhere secret to escape it all. Luke’s grounding force in life is his best friend Ella (Claudia Hruschka - Any Questions for Ben?), who, along with dramas in her own life, talks freely about their struggles in their lives and offer support to one another. Ella is a positive force and has a peaceful mantra, if only she had a better taste in men. Her dramas are dominated by her younger sister Nicole (Samantha Frazer - Horizon: Sanguinary), who has a habit of stealing the guys Ella likes. Ella’s friendship with Luke is steadfast but this is all rocked when her ex-boyfriend, James (Maty Young - All of Me) comes back into the fold, straining not only Luke’s relationship with Ella but also of their other friend Peter’s relationship with her.  Peter (Daniel McBurnie - Forrest's New Begining) has recently been released from the hospital where he had treatment for his bipolar disorder.  He keeps his struggles hidden from those around him. Peter had a brief romantic relationship with Ella, unbeknown to Luke, but Ella ended that relationship. Just when things in their lives had settled down and are beginning to look stable again, a tragic incident occurs, which brings Luke to his breaking point and forces him to reveal a hidden truth.

Other cast members include:
Byron J. Brochmann - Allied
Farah Sobey - Love Child

Sophie Thurling - Counter Play
Hannah Vanderheide - Dead Sharks
Matthew Bertram - The Stevedore

The story is close to heart for David as there are elements based on his life at a point in time.  He has been acting for over 4 years, starting in Perth before moving to Melbourne in 2016. He has also been writing in that time with Aperture his first Feature Film to be produced.
The film deals with some heavy issues regarding mental health in the forms of Anxiety, Bipolar, Depression & Body image. But it also blends in good comedy elements with its characters.

Luke has a range of experience not only directing but Producing and in Cinematography. He has had work experience with ABC Me as well as directing his own Short FIlm Trilogy "Horizon" & a Channel 31 Pilot " That's what the Boys are for".

Your support will mean the world to us, as this is the first feature film for many of our actors along side with some very experienced working actors. This film isn't being made on a huge budget, and some financing has been secured, but we still need your help. This is a film which hope to speak to everyone and that they can identify themselves with the characters and ask the question "In what light do you see those around you"?
