Kidney Transplant

I am Alton Wilson, of St Lucia and currently reside in Grand Cayman.

Hope is something Alton clings to each and everyday. He’s waiting for a life saving phone call; one telling him a kidney is available for a transplant, or that a date has been set for the donor transplant to take place. Its a call he’s been praying for since 2015.

Both of Alton’s kidneys failed because of medication he took for hypertension. But he is hopeful his weekly dialysis treatments will soon come to an end.
Three times each week, Alton is out the door after a days work at 5:30 PM to make his treatment, each treatment last about 3.5 hours.
Once he’s home, after 9PM his day is pretty much over, as the treatments leave him drained and unable to do much other than sleep and know in less than 48 hours, the routine will repeat.

Although he has insurance, he’s responsible for mounting medical costs associated with his dialysis, his pending transplant that will include housing, transportation, food, airline tickets for the estimated 6 months stay in the United States. It's often just too much of a load to carry. Load, not burden.

For Alton is still hoping; hoping for a cure; hoping for a kidney; hoping for miracle. And he hasn't lost his faith. His past has taught him every fight filled with hope is one worth fighting.  His daughter has now been approved as the living donor of a kidney and we're hoping for this to take place in July 2018
