*Urgent Aid for the Muslims of Sri Lanka

**Update: We will also use a portion of the donations to purchase goods to distribute throughout Ramadan to the poor and needy growing Muslim community who were not necessarily affected by the clashes with the Buddhists.**
The Muslim minority of the southwest Sri Lankan town of Aluthgama have been brutally attacked and displaced from their homes by hardline Buddhist monks after an incident between a young Muslim and Buddhist Monk. The back lash against the Muslims has been brutal; some have been killed, many are now homeless, sleeping in mosques, and their businesses burnt down. The violence is now spreading to other towns, such as Colombo.

As Ramadan approaches in just a few days, the need for supplies, blankets, water, clothes, food, etc... is even more urgent.
Myself and a good friend who is living in Sri Lanka, are collecting any funds donated, so that her family can buy the supplies and distribute them to those in need. No amount of money is too small, please donate to your brothers and sisters in Islam and in Humanity.
The Prophet Muhammad (Peace and blessings be upon him) said in regards to giving charity: "Give charity without delay, for it stands in the way of calamity." - Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 589
"The believer's shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity." - Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 604
Allah says in the Noble Qur'an :
"They ask you (O Muhammad) what they should spend in charity. Say: 'Whatever you spend with a good heart, give it to parents, relatives, orphans, the helpless, and travellers in need. Whatever good you do, God is aware of it.'" (2:215)
